Snow, Snow Go Away

Hey There,
I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and the weather ;)  We got about 14 inches here.  I was hoping the rest of the snow would melt so I could run outside!  I guess I will have to wait longer to do that.
Friday, a couple friends and I started a new workout.  We started working out to Turbofire.  It is an upbeat cardio class.  We get to shake our tushes and do a little kick boxing!  It’s a fun workout.  If you get bored with workouts find some friends and get some workout videos.  Friends help us stay accountable and helps boost our confidence.
Saturday, my 6th grade girls had a basketball tourney in Colman-Egan.  I had a late night Friday, so I need a little boost!  I grabbed one of my REV3 Energy Drinks to get me going that morning.  It was a little too cold so I had to put on my gloves to keep my hand warm :)
They absolutely played out of their minds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I was like who are you and what have you done with my team. LOL.  We had 3 games the first game we beat Dells St. Mary’s by 17 points, second game we won 7-4 against Colman-Egan.  Colman-Egan beat us the week before by at least 10 points.  Our final game was against Deubrook, their girls have ball handling skills, fast, defense, and can shoot!  We gave up 8 points right at the beginning but we came back.  We unfortunately lost 18-13.  But I was and still am soooooo PROUD of my girls!
Today, I had an awesome snack this afternoon.  I had a serving of vanilla yogurt with fresh strawberries and blueberries.  Check out what your local food markets have for fresh produce and try to fit them into your day!

I have a challenge for you.  I challenge you to record absolutely everything you eat and drink for one week.  This is a good way to evaluate what your weak points are and what you can do to improve your health.  I am going to do it with you.  Keeping track also make you aware and makes you think “Do I want to write that down in my journal.”  I am going to keep track and share it with you.  I hope you can prove to yourself that you can do it and see what you need to work on.  I also hope you can share with me your hardships and benefits.
Enjoy the rest of the week and I will talk to you tomorrow with my daily eats in hand!

Will You Be Mine?

Hey Hey,
It’s been a few days!  Sorry I haven’t been on here in a few days, I have actually been pretty busy.  Cory and I had a great Valentine’s Day.  I cooked us Four Cheese & Italian Sausage Manicotti and cheesy, garlic biscuits.  Boy was it good!

I reffed both junior high boys & girls basketball games Monday and Tuesday.  It got pretty intense since it was against our hometown rivals, Lake Preston.  Tuesday after the JH games, I stayed in and watched the high school girls play and we beat them by 30-40 points.  We also auctioned off the raffle ticket which the processed help with entry fees, gas, and hotel rooms.  Again, thanks to all that participated.
Today was pretty uneventful. Derek and I had to play darts tonight, to make up for a missed night.  I threw a highton!  For those of you that don’t know what that is, it is when I threw my three darts and they were above 150 points.  That round I threw a 157!  My first ever.
I think Monday I will start putting up recipes.  I want to share different recipes with you and see if you like them and how you like to alter them!  I enjoy cooking and experiment with different recipes.
Well tonight was short but I am off to bed and I will definitely talk to you tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheater, Cheater, Pumpkin Eater

Hey Friends,

So we had a good time last night.  We got to see many friends that we haven't seen in a while.  Overall, a great night with great people!

Cheater!!  Ya, I am talking about me....I just couldn't help myself.  I got caught up in everything and everyone, and should have stepped back and accessed the situation.  I had my shake with me but I didn't mix it.  Well, I guess if I am going to cheat I might as well do well (which I did).  Today though, I was upset with myself for not having enough self control and that last week I worked hard to lose those four pounds.  And I probably just gained some back.  That is going to be my biggest challenge.  Last week seemed easy, I had every meal laid out for me.  Now, I have to make my own decisions.  I have to plan ahead and select what we will eat.  I have to really look at the different foods, and concentrate on what is healthiest for our bodies.  Less processed foods and more foods from Mother Earth.

Another positive about being in Sioux Falls this weekend was I got to see my lovely Julie!! :) She was at work, but I still got to visit with her!!!

The weather is looking up.  I hope Mother Nature cooperates and stays warm!!!  I like our opinion of what is warm (30-40 degrees).  I hate exercising and running around in circles inside during the winter. LOL.  I love to take the dogs on walks or runs when the weather provides. :)

Well, I have to ref and get errands done tomorrow.  I also have to decide what to make my wonderful hubby and myself for our Valentine's Day dinner.  I hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow and the you enjoy the weather.

Love ya all,

Kyla

Onto The Next Phase

Hey Everyone,
Sorry I didn’t get to write you last night. Cory and I went to the basketball game and then to the Country Club to visit some friends.  We got home late and I had to be up early.  I was actually disappointed I didn’t get to post last night. Oh well, here I am :) I got to substitute teach yesterday, and I even brought my shake for lunch.  And I figured out my webcam, now we can Skype :)

Well, we still aren’t getting 8-10 hours of sleep, but only about 7-7.5.  And tonight probably won’t be an early night either, because we are heading to Sioux Falls for a friends engagement.  It will be a great night with great people!
Today, I had to coach my girls at a basketball tourney this morning and what do you know my alarm didn’t go off.  I woke up at 9:03 and I had to be in Lake Preston at 9:30.  I was a little late but in time.  Oh, and I did get a chance to weigh myself this morning during the chaos and I lost 4 pounds this last week!  I could have done more exercising and eaten at better times, but I am pretty proud of myself.  Now on to the transform phase, I will be on this part until I get to my desired weight.
In the transform phase, I get to have two shakes, a protein bar, serving of fruit or veggies, and a low glycemic meal every day.  I can wait to start cooking healthy meals!  I told Cory all I want for Valentine’s Day is Low Glycemic Cookbook, and for us to spend time together.  Pretty easy, right? LOL :)
I hope you have a great rest of the day and I will talk to you tomorrow!!!!!
Enjoy the weather,
Kyla

What challenges you?

Hey Everyone,
I hope your day was as progressive as mine!  I got a bunch of cleaning and laundry done.  I reorganized our kitchen cabinets and cleaned the oven and stove…. Then tonight I had dart league.  It is actually pretty fun, this is my first year doing it.  The thing is, dart league is at a bar.  Yeah, I usually eat their Chicken Strip Melt and drink a FEW beers.  It was tough but I didn’t have the sandwich or the beers!  I drank water and brought one of my nutrition bars with me.
One thing, I forgot to mention that on the RESET Program you have to drink a lot of water.  Which I already do, water is really the only thing that I like to drink and that’s what I reach for when I am thirsty.  Today, I did need a little boost and so I grab one of USANA’s REV3 Energy Drinks.  This drink is natural and has all natural sugars.  I could never drink those other energy drinks because all the sugar in them upset my stomach.  REV3 has a gradual increase and decrease of energy unlike the others that have the spike and then the crash.

Changing your lifestyle with diets, or different ways can be difficult.  I think my biggest challenge is myself.  One of my favorite quotes is “I need to get out of my own way,” Lynn Allen-Johnson.  This is so true!  I feel I make excuses, and do things because others will never know.  Well who is it hurting………me.  So why do I do it?  It just makes me even more unhappy.  Here is an example: I feel that if I didn’t live in South Dakota it would be easier for me to lose weight, and be healthy.  If I lived in a warmer climate, I could run outside, hike, or whatever.  I don’t like running around in circles.  I NEED to quit making excuses.  HELP! What do YOU do that helps you beat and overcome those challenges in your life?
Challenge yourself…. Get up 15 minutes earlier and eat breakfast. Okay not just cereal, but think about protein.  Eggs are a great way to get your protein in the morning.  Having protein in the morning helps jump start and boost your metabolism!  This is one thing I never forget!
Well I am off to bed.  I get to sub and ref tomorrow.
Take Care,
Kyla
PS Did anyone try out the link for the RESET Program?  If so, did it work?

Half Way

Hey Y’all
Hope your day was great and you were full of energy :) I looked back on yesterday’s post I kind of started to ramble…. Oops.  I am half way through my RESET!  Only two more days and then I will start my transform phase :)

Here is a picture of my strawberry Nutrimeal mix, peanut butter crunch nutrition bar, and my USANA shaker bottle. YUM!
Today, after finishing dishes, I was sitting watching some t.v. and a Bluebird was right outside my window.  He was a vibrant blue and very plump.  I probably watched him for five minutes or so!  There also were tons of rabbits, a pheasant, cats, and my dogs scampering around today.
I had to go into town today for basketball practice.  This year I got asked to coach the 6th grade girl’s basketball team.  I have enjoyed it a lot, but boy do they keep me on my toes.  They have a tourney this weekend in Lake Preston.  Since I started coaching, I developed a point system for grades.  When a girl gets twenty points from getting an A or above on daily assignments, quizzes, or tests I will take her out to get a blizzard from DQ.  Well one of the girls got her twenty points and wanted to go today.  UGH!  Hello, I can’t have any of that yummy goodness that DQ provides!!!  The ice cream looked soo good, and she also got a chicken strip basket.  The chicken strip basket is my favorite.  But I contained myself, YAY!
When I did get home though, I did cheat a little.  I had a string cheese.  Hey, at least it wasn’t DQ.  I have been looking forward to cooking different recipes after my first five days.  I have actually been craving veggies.  Lately I have wanted a nice salad, and tomatoes with mozzarella.  Once I start preparing and cooking different recipes, I will share the recipes with you and take some pics.
Well I am getting tired and should go to bed.  Cory and I are trying to go to bed earlier, so we can try and get at least eight hours of sleep.  We will see how that goes.
Sleep Well!

Never Ask A Woman Her Weight

Hey Dolls,
I told myself if I am going to do the Reset Program (let me know if the link works), I am going to do it well.  Like I said never ask a woman her weight, I will just tell you. :) So here it is, yesterday morning I weighed myself and I weigh 146 lbs.  Now this is serious, I just put my weight up on the internet.  I guess it’s one way to keep myself stay accountable.  I will weigh myself this Saturday as it will be the day after I finish my program.  Like I said before, I can lose up to five pounds.

Today, I couldn’t stop watching the Food Channel!  I honestly think it is my favorite channel.  Another challenge for the day was the difficulty of not eating Cory’s pizza that is in the fridge.  Every time I open that door the pizza just yells “EAT ME!”  That is probably the hardest part of the Reset Program.  I think boredom, habit, and the idea that I can’t eat that certain food makes the program difficult.  Especially the first two days.  This program helps me develop healthier eating habits by breaking the old and giving me the opportunity to bring in new and healthier options.  I am physically breaking my addiction to high glycemic food.  If you are not very familiar of the foods I like, well other than pretty much everything :) I love food ~ I love sweets ~ I love junk food ~ I love carbs ~ You name it, I love it.
Being on the Reset Program I can have my USANA nutritional supplements, three USANA Nutrimeal Shakes, two USANA Nutrition Bars, and one serving of fruit or veggies.  I can have all of that each day for the five days.  Both the shakes and bars are clinically tested low glycemic.  There are three flavors of the Nutrimeal Shakes: Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry.  The Nutrition Bars also has three flavors: Chocolate Fusion, Peanut Butter Crunch, and Oatmeal Raisin.  I really don’t have a favor it, I like them all!  These shakes and bars make it fairly easy to stick with the program, they make me feel full and satisfied.
I am pretty familiar with USANA Health Sciences, I have taken their nutritional supplements for over two years.  I take their Essentials (Chelated Mineral & Mega Antioxidant) which are my multivitamin, Active Calcium (I am not fond of milk :S), and BiOmega which is a fish oil.  This time of year I also talk Proflavonal C which helps fight off the flu & cold season.  USANA has many more products that I use throughout my day.  If you are wondering what supplements would help improve your health, check out the health assessment on the USANA website.

Talk to you tomorrow :)

New Beginnings

Hey Everyone,

So this is a new and exciting challenge for myself!  I am a little nervous but excited to share my life and thoughts, but I am super pumped to hear from you.  I wanted to start this blog to express my passions, connect with others, and to keep myself accountable.  I hope you enjoy my blog and I hope to get your feedback.

Today was my first day starting my healthy lifestyle change.  I started the USANA Reset Program, which is a kind of like a five day cleanse.  I have done the Reset Program before, but stopped right after the five days.  I told myself if I was to do the program again that I needed to be serious about it.  This blog was part of my 'seriousness" :) Funny story:  So today I put a piece of chocolate in my mouth and chewed it two times and stopped.  LOL I can't have chocolate with this program.  I stopped and grabbed a napkin and spit it out.  Honestly, without this blog, I probably would have eaten the chocolate and not told anyone. HEHE. I will give you a better idea of what the program entails tomorrow.

I had a pretty busy day.  This afternoon I got to spend some quality time with my niece and nephew.  I love coloring, reading books, and talking in a language only an infant can understand.  Right after babysitting I had to referee the girl's junior high basketball games.  They both won their games, but boy oh boy did I have the visitor's coach riding me all night.  Of course he wouldn't say anything to the other ref, who was a male and older.  I even warned him if he said one more word that I would give him a technical!!!!  I might be a female, but I will NOT put up with that crap :)  He acted very immature.... What are you teaching your players when you disrespect and talk like that to others?  One thing that did make me happy was that the young stats keeper apologized and she was actually embarrassed by the way he acted.

But that is enough of me venting.  I am cuddling with my puppies waiting for my hubby to get home :)  I can't wait to get up and start tomorrow.  Thank you for helping me stay on track.  See you tomorrow.

Love ya,

Kyla
